CoMotion Welcomes Selina!

As September started we announced that we were celebrating our fifth anniversary, and doing so with a selection of offers and some exciting news!

So what’s that news you ask? Well, we have hired an Executive Director!

Being five, and especially celebrating this in the middle of a pandemic, gives you time to recognize changes to make and growth to undertake. For us, we recognized that Hamilton, the world, and the landscape of coworking and event spaces like ours has drastically changed. Bringing someone on with some fresh views, hype energy, and awesome focus was a must.

So with great pleasure, we introduce to you, Selina Eckersall. Check out Selina’s astounding bio below, and better yet, come by and say “Hi” and meet her in person!

About Selina Eckersall:

Selina is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with a strong focus on innovation and disruptive industries. Educated in marketing and with a Direct Marketing Accreditation with the Canadian Marketing Association, Selina has spent almost two decades in marketing and communications, with the last 13 highly concentrated in digital. Early in her career Selina was the National Marketing Coordinator at HMV Canada; responsible for coordinating in store marketing campaigns. She also spent time at Carlson Marketing Group (now Aimia) and has worked on VIP brands like Ford of Canada, Microsoft, and BMO (Bank of Montreal); where she managed a large scale employee recognition program and awards gala.

Selina spent two years in a marketing leadership role at one of Toronto’s most notable social media tech startups, Wattpad; a global company that revolutionized and serialized reading for the social web. There Selina led the digital marketing team and then went on to be the Global Business Marketing Lead; responsible for B2B marketing, thought leadership and promoting brand campaigns on the platform.

In 2014, Selina was named Arts Person of the Year in the City of Burlington for her work in the arts community. She founded a Non-Profit arts organization called No Vacancy Art as a side project to bring free public art events to the city of Burlington. She held four large scale annual one night art events that showcased sculpture, animated film, digital art, installation, and music. The events attracted thousands of people and gave Ontario-based artists a platform to reach new audiences.

Selina has been an entrepreneur for well over a decade, with the the past several years managing a marketing services business called Digital Mass where to help companies and brands with their digital marketing, communication strategies, and brand creative. Digital Mass has served clients ranging from cannabis companies, to BIAs, home builders, software companies, retail stores and other creative agencies.

Most recently Selina spent three years in the emerging Canadian cannabis space and was the Director of Marketing & Communications at Kanata Earth; an indigenous Canadian cannabis company concentrated on cultivation, genetics and testing. She also sat on the advisory board for two of Canada’s largest cannabis business conferences.
