Every space has a story
During its service as the hub for journalism in Hamilton, the building at 115 King Street East also housed a Jewelry store, and the long-time, now gone, Hamilton landmark business, Rainbow Bridal.
Falling into disrepair in the 1990s, and throughout the first decade of the 2000s, 115 King Street East, much like the surrounding down town core, is at last being revitalized. From CoMotion on King and its rooftop patio, to Serve Ping Pong Bar and Lounge on the second floor, 1 UP Games on the ground floor retail space, and, coming soon, a historical installation detailing both the building’s and the Hamilton Spectator’s history in the CoMotion on King ground floor lobby (a partnership between CoMotion on King and the Hamilton Spectator) 115 King Street East is entering its second century with renewed purpose.
100% Natural Sunlight
Sitting in an office with artificial lighting all day while it’s bright and sunny outside can make for a miserable work environment. Which is why CoMotion has invested in installing the latest in sun tunnel innovation in both of our spaces, aiming to achieve as high as 100% natural light in all of our common work areas. The sun tunnels provide natural sunlight throughout the space to compliment the light coming in from our large windows.
New research has shown that working without natural light can be detrimental to your productivity, health and overall well being. Don’t just take our word for it, check out Northwestern Medicine and the University of Illinois’ report that natural light in the office boosts health. Office workers with more light exposure at the office had longer sleep duration, better sleep quality, more physical activity and better quality of life compared to office workers with less light exposure in the workplace. Compared to workers in offices without windows, those with windows receiving sunlight exposure during work hours slept an average of 46 minutes more per night.
When people say something is located in the heart of somewhere, rarely are they being as honest as it is to say that CoMotion on King is truly located in the heart of Hamilton’s downtown core.
At 115 King St. East, CoMotion on King simply cannot get closer to the historic centre of Hamilton. Located on the east side of the core’s Gore Park, and directly across from the eagerly anticipated and prestigious Condos at the Royal Connaught, CoMotion on King is not simply be a key player in the vibrant King East business community (including a wide variety of boutiques, restaurants, shops and cafés), but as the first coworking space located in Hamilton’s downtown core, and the largest south of Toronto, it is essential in the exciting revitalization of the downtown core community.
Based out of the historic former offices of the Hamilton Spectator, directly above the fun new Ping Pong lounge, Serve, and steps from the surrounding, and deeply cultural James North, Augusta, King William, and International Village business districts, the only thing better than working at CoMotion on King is leaving work to enjoy it’s thrilling locale.
